Welcome to the Rengerspark tree library

Entrance

Located in the Northeast part of Leeuwarden, The Rengerspark was opened to the public in 1908, and is part of a land donated by mr. W.J. van Welderen baron Rengers, former mayor (1877-1883) of Leeuwarden and his wife. The park was built according to the design provided by H. Copijn. The Rengerspark is home to more than 50 species of trees from all over the world that are accompanied, in the center of the pond, by a child with a little bird, a work from the artist Maria van Everdingen (1965). The trees share the space with (mostly) shrubs and birds that coexist as a living library.
